Development of a Tomometry Measurement Technique based on Electrical Capacitance Tomography and Combining Electrode Strategy

ABSTRACT

Electrical capacitance tomometry (ECTM) provides an effective means for monitoring water volume fractions. This work presents a new water volume fraction measurement method based on electrical capacitance tomography. An electrode combining strategy using rotating electrodes has been implemented to transform a 12-electrode sensor into a 2-electrode sensor, simplifying the measurement hardware circuit. Simulation results using COMSOL Multiphysics software and experimental results obtained on a multiphase flow utility plant allow us to evaluate the performance of the proposed water volume fraction measurement method.
