Key Issues for the Application of Process Tomography in Multi- Scale Gas-Solids Fluidized Bed

In this paper, the application of process tomography in multi-scale gas-solids fluidization processes will be given and discussed. Key issues related with electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) and Microwave Tomography (MWT) will be addressed and real industrial application for ECT will be given. Computational fluid dynamic (CFD) based on computational particle fluid dynamic (CPFD) and two- phase fluid model (TFM) are used to investigate the multi-scale gas-solids process, i.e. from lab-scale to industrial scale, with complex gas-solids separating system and full-loop of gas-solids flow. Parts of the CPFD-TFM simulation results are compared and validated with process tomography results. The complex flow hydrodynamics behaviour with different scales are given and analysed.
