ABSTRACT

Electrical tomography techniques have been used in a range of industrial applications with different sizes of sensors and scale lengths. For Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) and Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT), simple geometrical scaling relations exist, which are governed by Laplace’s equation. For electromagnetic induction tomography (MIT) the frequency factor needs to be taken into account when applying geometrical scaling relations. A good understanding of these relationships is useful for process scalingup and scalingdown.

This paper considers the geometrical scaling relationships in the context of electrical tomography and uses analytical, numerical and experimental approaches to validate the proposed scaling relations.

Keywords electrical tomography, scaling relationships, scaleup and scale down
